It's 7 am in the morning, you are a bright marketer and you just woke up with another great idea. You are familiar with podcasts, you already have some favourites and you decide to expand your library with some relevant titles that will help you become a more knowledgeable marketer. So far, so good BUT… you start searching and a few clicks later you begin to realise that there is so much choice. The majority of the 5-star-reviewed podcasts you find at the top are not narrow enough for the specific topic you are looking for. You start searching online for the ‘top b2b marketing podcasts’ and you are overwhelmed with long lists that have no shows in common. Well, maybe they all have Gary Vee. Frustrating.

Let's see if I can help you with this. After some trial and error and with a less is more approach, I present you some titles that will help you stay up to date in all things;

B2B+Marketing+Leadership+SaaS+Data+ABM+LeadGen+TheNextBigThing

The SaaS Marketing Show

Presented in a case study format, the show explores what did and didn't work for some of the largest companies in the game during their journeys. Great if you are just looking for cut & paste strategies.

B2B Lead Gen Podcast

Anyone can bring loads of leads but very few can generate quality leads at scale. Hosted by Eric Schwartzman and with a list of top guests you can be sure any recommended tips and tricks are good enough for the creme of the B2B marketing crop.

Bonus Points: In every pod there is a focus on revenue.

The Data Driven Marketer

Recommended for anyone who wants to become a better marketer but wants to make sure their decisions are backed by the best data out there. The episodes are short and sweet and you always leave learning something new and innovative.

The Flip my Funnel

Hosted by the very engaging and founder of the #FlipMyFunnel movement, Sangram Vajre, this daily podcast covers Leadership, Interviews, Content, ABM, MarTech, Personas and much much more in just half an hour episodes.

B2B Better

Closer to home, from the UK, Jason Bradwell interviews marketing experts and shares actionable advice that can be put into practice today. This is for those B2B marketers who want to be better.

Last but not least, I'd like to invite all marketers working in 200+ size organisations to consider podcasts as part of their content strategy. This is something I've been recommending while working as a marketing consultant and I believe it will become more and more present in the next 12-18 months. Well known market leaders such as Salesforce, HubSpot, Drift and many others have launched one or more podcasts as part of their content strategy and it is time for smaller players to follow suit.

Here a few tips:

  • Keep the content relevant for the audience - NO self-promotion

  • A podcast is not radio so... no need to keep it to 30 or 60 mins, let each episode take its own time (the podcasts listed above are a great example of how to manage this)

  • Bring guests. Current customers, industry experts, marketing podcasters, etc. It will help you grow your network and it will bring future collaborations on other platforms and channels

  • Be engaging. Sometimes we have some great stats to communicate. Conveying information and data is EASY. Take a 'data-storytelling' approach so your audience can extract value from your facts and figures and put your ideas into action.

"People hear statistics, but they feel stories"

Brent Dykes, Forbes.com

  • Make it available for all the major podcast apps for Discovery ie: Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, Overcast, Pocket Casts, SoundCloud... and more! In theory, you'll only need to do this once.

  • Promote your podcast as part of your content - Social Media updates, web, blogposts, well, you already know this part!

Stay tuned!
